The Friendly Winds Of Travel Continued To Push Us South

After another peaceful night at Walmart, we were ready and rolling at 7am. Nothing is so great than a new fresh day on the road.

The sky was clear, but this early the temps were way down.

First task was getting through Atlanta without a scratch.

Traffic was getting tight and it once again showed that city and road planners had not been on the same page when allowing housing developments without also planning for rush hours.

But, heck, we had expected that and we were not in a rush. From Atlanta we left the I-20 and headed around the city on the I-285 south. Where it meets with the I-65 we turned straight south. Great highway and not much traffic.

We didn't see much of Montgomery,AL as we were following the I-65 towards Mobile. which basically ends by merging with the I-10 east or west. We went west towards Mississippi and the city of Biloxi. Biloxi and neighbouring city of D'Iberville, has a number of casinos which offer free parking. And that, precisely, was out destination for the day.

According to the security man we spoke to the "Scarlet Pearl" is, the newest casino in D'Iberville, which actually is named after Canadian explorer Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville, who arrived at the area in 1699. Almost 300 years later, D'Iberville officially became a city in 1988.

This time of the year, there are few visitors, so the "Scarlet Pearl's" large parking lot is wide open. They have continuous security on the premises and your ID data and license plate # is collected. It gave us a great feel of safety.

After setting up camp we walked around the area. We got to the water side, but it was mostly industrial building. One private residence had an odd contraption of a wooden boat stored ashore.

Bea found a brown Pelican in a convenient photo-opp position.

The other side opened the view towards a bridge. It was around sunset and we could snap off some nice pics there.

If you have ever been in Vegas and seen the "volcano" in front of the Bellagio, then you know what this one looks like.

Tomorrow, we will reach into Texas, but our final destination will not be revealed yet.
