For 2 days we have now been cooped up in the trailer while a constant drizzle has made our days miserable. The never ending mist coming down has softened the ground which apparently consists of a sand/clay mixture, not unlike of what you would find in a river. And the cold and wind has been terrible as well. Another thing which has proven to be a challenge are sticky seeds hidden in the grass. You step on those with bare feet they will hurt. For Dixie this is a major problem. It has already come to that, that she refuses to walk certain places as she remembers being hurt there.
The weather forecasts are partly contradictory with some predicting a cooler than normal winter, while others predict the opposite. The truth for the next week is that from Thursday on we will see temps in the 70s, but cold weather can move down from the north again later. It is the Jetstream which gets periodically gets cold air masses from Canada down here, while Arizona and California are too far out west to be hit with the Jetstream and by that reason have warmer and more stabile weather.
Tonight, we have been debating the pros and the cons of staying in Texas, vs. moving on to California. The final outcome has not been decided yet, so you will have to check back later.

ReplyDeleteYou might like the state park next door better. Or north 30 miles to Zapata is developed campgrounds with sites and more stores etc..
ReplyDeleteBeen there today for a walk. Trails are not passable - too muddy. Walked the paved roads. Nice park though!
DeleteUnfortunately, Barney, we are not so much into RV campgrounds. The State Park was very nice, though. But it is not in our budget for longer stays. Boondock it was and will be again..
DeleteOh my goodness, Peter and Bea! Mother Nature always has her way, doesn't she!? So sorry for bothering miserable weather and those nasty seeds! Better days are ahead.
ReplyDeleteTake care. ♡
It can get bitterly cold there some days, maybe further south would warm you up.
ReplyDeleteNot in Texas! Moving on to California.
