Can you guess where we are? Of course you recognized the place. It's the town with the strangest name in the world:We have been here a couple of times earlier, but Tombstone can be fascinating more than once. And this time we have our trailer with us. 3 years ago a private property owner started to accommodate RV on a big open gravel site behind the Tombstone Court House. For 10 bucks a night you stay here dry-camping and only steps away from the center of town.
Naturally, we had to saunter down Allen Street again. Here is everything you might be looking for in gifts and memories to take home from your Tombstone trip. I won't repeat the entire town history here, if interested you can find in all on the internet, just mentioning 2 names, "Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday".
Not sure whether this is the town taxi, but it sure is a nice looking vehicle. Besides, the town can also be experienced from the seat of the Tucson Stage Coach or the Butterfield Stage Coach or in a more modern way from one of the various Trolley Coaches driving around the area. Nothing is quite free of charge here, and why would it? The town of Tombstone is a touristy place with an authentical touch of history, but it always runs right on the edge of being a tourist trap. Approaching Tombstone from Hwy 80 today we were "greeted" with endless lines of vehicles, obviously returning from Tombstone. OK, it was Sunday today and with the fine weather, people were drawn outside to have some fun in an old western town.
Behind these walls they have enactments of long-gone Tombstone days.
Oh my.....what happened here? Another victime of a gunfight?
Hopefully all the bad guys got their deserved punishment in this court house, which today is an AZ State Park.
