Melting Sunday

No, of course, Sunday is not melting but Sunday’s warm weather is causing the snow to melt like butter in the pan. 1-DSC_1726            Above: February 26  Below: February 13
1-DSC_1534Never in a million years I would have thought that the copious amounts of snow we got just 12 days ago would be almost gone by now. Water is now everywhere, and with the ground still frozen it is running downhill. But today we have some wind and it helps drying up our yard.

It is still Scallop Season
Our fishermen are still busy hauling up  lucrative catches of scallops, and recently I took a trip out to Head Harbour to watch young lined up along the stern opening up the scallops with a sharp knife. It’s tough work like all fisheries, but the fellows are earning a good money for it.

Inside the tower sits a piece of drain pipe with a little elbow at the end. To fill in the birdseeds I can lift off the top. The pipe will take it down to the little opening from where birds can find the seeds, while sitting on the board in front of it.

  1. See the snow didn't last too long and the extra time waiting for it to melt produced a beautiful bird feeder! Enjoy the warmer weather.
