What the weather man says...
...I really don't know what to say. This morning the weather was predicted to be fine from about noon. In fact it showed sunshine for Lubec,ME.  And while I was working on the gable putting on wall shingles, I glanced around from time to time across the bay spiding for the slightest sign of sunshine, alas all I saw was a varying density of FOG. And it was not moving. Not at all.

No sunshine, sir. Actually during the afternoon there was a time when it got downright wet outside. The good side of that, however, was that I did not break out a sweat. Normally the West side of the house is the warmest place in sunshine. When I again checked the weather for Lubec this early evening it said:Current condition: SUNNY. I could not believe that. The fog was so dense we could not see the water.

Well, enough of that. I got something done and that was good.
Røde Grøde med fløde på
OK, so you don't know what that is, right? Unless you are a Scandinavian, or a German. In that case you would know that this delicacy is a dessert, which deserves the highest notes in heaven. Told ya I was in the blackberries the other day! This morning there was still a good portion of it in the fridge. And Bea made Røde Grøde of it. It is the juice of (in this case) blackberries thickened to a jelly with starch served with non-whipped whipping creme (fløde) And it is served cold! This Red Grots (or fruit jelly) can be made with any fruit which is red. Bea has more of this on her blog. But you wonder what language that headline is in? Well, it is Danish!

You gotto know that I grew up with it. Yes I GREW with it. When mom had that on the table I could not be controlled. Enough of that too. I can ramble on about food for ever. Bea thinks it's a wonder I don't look like Oliver Hardy!

Then we got a phone call. Somebody from the island informed us that we could pick up our prize items.

Prize items???

"Yep, you won a few items last saturday during the fire hall fundraiser BBQ".  Geez... I had forgotten all about it. Today is TUESDAY right?  So we threw ourselves into the car and were heading out and north. Found the address without getting lost in all that fog. Picked up the stuff and omigod, there was way more than I had expected. Shan't say what it is - cause you're just gettin' jealous.

Tomorrow is another half of a month over! Still so much to do...

"Severe Fog Warning"

I have read about severe thunderstorm warning, severe rain warning, severe heat warning and severe tornado warning to mention a few. This morning there was (it's a first-timer..) SEVERE FOG WARNING for Lubec,ME  "vision ahead" was 0 yards!

When I crossed the border I told the customs officer that Lubec should be re-named to "Fog Town". I don't know whether he found that funny, but seriously Lubec has three times as much fog as our island. It comes in from the Bay of Fundy through the Lubec Narrows, and always when we have with southerly winds.

However, it did not effect me in my work as I went about painting the gable fascia and the rest of the dormers. As I could not quite reach the top of the gable, I was looking to  extend the reach of my paintbrush. I was looking for some kind of broom stick, when I came across an old Golf Club. That thing had about the right angle for tying my paint brush to the end of it. And how I "tied" it together? With duct tape of course! So for the first time I played golf with a paintbrush on a house gable.

Later I threw myself over shingling the north wall of the new entrance. That was actually fun as I could be in the shade most of the time. (yes, at some time the sun came out)

But after coffee my energy was kinda drained and I decided to take Molly and the convertible out to Herring Cove Beach. We had a great walk through the natural meadow between  the beach and the Glensevern Lake. This lake was divided off the ocean once as the sea pushed up a dam of sand, thus turning the trapped water body into a freshwater lake over time
With the fog just about coming back I got some special shots.

When returning to the car after 45 minutes I had to realize that I had forgotten to turn of the lights, thereby draining the battery. These old cars have no warning sound if you leave the light on.
So Molly and I took the walk up the campground office to borrow the telephone and call Bea to come with the truck and our jumper cable. And that was how we got home.
Not a bad day, eh?

A walk in the Park
I hope you all recovered from yesterday's shocking head line. Today I can assure you that we have business as usual. Hehe...

The Americans got lucky yesterday as the sun popped up just in time for their parade in Eastport. The blaring horns and sirens were well audible from across the bay.
But we had cancelled the trip for our own and took a walk in the (foggy) Roosevelt Park. One would think that with all that fog it would be useless to take a camera along. But I think I can proof that wrong. What fog does is distributing the light quite evenly. There are no shadows in fog, and colors are coming into their own. If you like outstanding photography you can see some by going to www.jimbrandenburg.com
Brandenburg, whose ancestors came from Idstedt, close to Schleswig,Germany, has just returned from a trip to Germany where he was visiting in the City of Schleswig. A friend of ours and bookstore owner, organized Brandenburgs exhibition.

Our photography cannot stand up against Mr. Brandenburg's but we can always try for the best shot.

Divorce!
I knew it would go that way. Bea has divorced me -- on my blog. Simply went ahead and started her very own blog. Told ya she was on fire!!
Her new address is: http://www.dinner-fourtwo.blogspot.com/

Well, I guess I'll get over it. If you guys want to take a look, go ahead. I won't hold it against you! lol!!

Independence Day!
Our American neighbors are about to celebrate their Independence Day. I am feeling a bit sorry for them, as we are having a thick fog. It might even rain today.

I am having a couple of nice Campobello shots for you. Some days the sea fog is moving in through the Lubec Narrows. Bea went out and took some interesting shots of the fog as it reaches the American shore and climbs over it, finally reaching Eastport.

And I think that's it for today, folks. Have a great day!
