I still cannot believe it, but today it happened. I am officially a pensionist. At least if we go by most countries standards. In Norway I would have a grace period of another 2 years, but I am not in Norway, and Canada is paying me a pension from next month. Chocolate Cake made by Bea So does anything change? Are my days gonna be any different than yesterday? Not likely.
But thinking back to my days of childhood, …..my grandfather was living in the same house. It was US who lived in HIS house. I was 10 years old and my grandpa was 65 years old. I always thought he was VERY old. My dad was just 37 and mom had just turned 35. I shamefully remember that I, at age 24, once called a young beautiful lady “……are you THAT old?” ….when she was just 36.
Oh my…
I was just 43 when I bought a car and asked the salesman who the previous owner had been. Looking at me he said: It also was an elderly gentleman. I must have given him a look, cause he apologized to me.
So, I guess age is relative to our point of view. My dad is 92 this year and to him I am just a spring chicken.
Maybe that’s the way we should look at ourselves……and eat the cake. |
Yes you are so right, now the Canadian government pays us to be old and we need to take advantage of it while we can, sure helps the retirement years.
