“It’s Where Da’ Boys are” On FM 94.3

Old time radio at Quarzsite, Arizona One of the real nice things up here in Quartzsite is that they’ve got a radio station which is playing music of the 60s and 70s in the evenings. Listening to FM 94.3 makes my mind race back to those days when I was very young. American songs came floating across the Atlantic and invaded European homes. Being at the right age I loved the music from “over there” and I still do. Now I’m getting old, well at least I’m on that road now. And I would like to touch that wheel which could turn the time back to those days. That music!  It was a time when cars in America were huge with rumblin’ 8-cylinders, and gas could be had for a few cents a gallon. People were optimistic and there seemed to be no limitations. It was the time of remarkable actors and singers. Protests against the war in Vietnam were coloring the music,  and Scott Mc.Kenzie was singing about coming to San Francisco. I want to lean back in my comfy couch, close the eyes and just be swept away in a wash of old hits. Just thinking of all these old folks out here. When this music was new they were all young, maybe not quite as young as I, but still young. I wonder whether that’s the reason they play this music out here. The “ZOO”

We were rolling in at La Posa South at about 1:30pm. On the way up we were met by hundreds of RVs going south. Was Quartzsite emptying out? Well we got the answer pretty quick. The flats at La Posa are plastered with RVs as far as one can see. This is not the most quiet spot on earth, in fact there is a lot of traffic going by.  At times RVs would be going by almost bumper to bumper.                                   All kind of rigs can be found at Quartzsite Interesting for any newcomer is that one would need a whole lot of time to get the holding tanks emptied. Why? well, there is a line-up of sorts in front the only dump station.   Quartzsite is a “ZOO” and we, the visitors, pose as the monkeys. Thanks again for visiting!

Quartzsite

A golden sun is rising above the desert. I was up early. It was only 5:45 when I heard Molly asking to get outside. It didn’t really matter. I don’t complain. We have things to do. We want to go to Quartzsite today. Most of the things we have around the trailer were packed away yesterday. We leave our solar panels here and rather run the generator at Q-site, if we have to. A Big Day For America

Congratulations Mr. President! It was a pleasure to watch the President’s inauguration for his 2. term as the country’s leader. This inauguration stands for the continuation of a policy of sensible renewal and change in the United States. As Canadians we feel that American policies are also affecting Canada. Our countries have been close allies for a long time and been standing shoulder to shoulder in solving economic affairs and conflicts of International scope. Continuance in policy lines are important to secure stability for domestic and International affairs. When the American people suffer we can feel it across the border. Our laws and ways to work with internal affairs might differ, nevertheless we are first-degree cousins and will stand together whenever the need occurs. On Campobello Island over 90% of the population have a dual citizenship. We regard our neighbors from  across the 500ft. of water between us as our friends. We cross the border on a daily basis and CBP-agents are greeting us warmly as our CBSA-agents are greeting American visitors. We do not experience the United States as a foreign country. We have shared a lot of history with each other and finally emerged as good neighbors. The American people can be proud of having this dynamic President with his smashing first lady, Michelle Obama. Watching the inauguration we were also awed about the smashing Michelle Obama. She looked just adorable. Today’s inauguration had called out to tens-of-thousands of people who didn’t hesitate to be outside on a rather chilly day in January to be part of this celebration. Congratulations AMERICA!
