“The Summer Wind”

The summer wind, came blowin' in from across the sea
It lingered there to touch your hair and walk with me
All summer long we sang a song and then we strolled that golden sand
Two sweethearts and the summer wind
Like painted kites, those days and nights, they went flyin' by
The world was new beneath a blue umbrella sky
Then softer than a piper man one day it called to you
I lost you, I lost you to the summer wind
The autumn wind and the winter winds, they have come and gone
And still the days, those lonely days, they go on and on
And guess who sighs his lullabies through nights that never end
My fickle friend, the summer wind
The summer wind
Warm summer wind
Mmm, the summer wind

And I can’t say it in any better way. What a tremendous day it was. A warm summer wind was playing around the house, just enough to cool us down a tad, for, yes, it was hot today.

While I have been replacing a window on our east gable and Bea was busy with her garden, Molly was the busiest of us all. Most recently we have experienced an increase of squirrel sightings and now that Molly is outside a lot, she is sooo busy trying to catch them, which she, unfortunately, is too old for. Nevertheless she is staying under the old Hawthorne tree looking up into the branches for hours. Her patience and endurance reminds me a lot of cats waiting for the mouse to show itself. But like I said, Molly is not fast enough anymore and besides she can’t hear them when they make their typical “CHECK,CHECK” noise. When I was up on the roof today, I called out at her – but she could not hear me. Our Molly is gone deaf. It fills us with sorrows and a feeling of helplessness. But Molly is in her 14th year and she is an old lady now. The more we were pleased to see her so busy as she was today. I mean she hasn’t been bored a second. This afternoon she was hanging around the LTD and I figured a squirrel was under the car or in the wheel wells. So I jumped in and started the engine. BOOM….a squirrel was in a straight beeline to escape Molly the Hunter.  We repeated that game a couple of times, but then i headed inside to prepare supper. “Chicken breast Et-La-Legume-Speciale” was on the menu. The veggies was half an onion, a tomato, a few “bread & butter” cucumbers a piece of a banana in a sauce of chicken broth, with a  spritzer of lemon juice and a dash of sugar. The pre-cooked chicken breast was warmed in this concoction. The left-over rice from a bygone day  was “sautéed” in butter and bacon with a bit of the chicken broth. It was very good indeed. When I get into the mood I can create the most amazing stuff for supper. “Amazing” like in “never done before”.

And that’s it for today. Have a great Sunday.

  1. Scooter also comes alive when there are squirrels or rabbits to chase. She'll be 14 in July. She is also very hard of hearing but we've worked out some hand signals. Wish our pups didn't have to age. Molly is still the most beautiful dog ever.

  2. Good for Molly. She's had a wonderful 14 years for sure. Here's hoping you'll have a few more good ones with her.
