It was 12 noon when I took off from home to drive to St.Stephen for finally and hopefully do my bus license. While I was driving I was praying and praying that I would not get the same examiner dude as last time. (I never told you what happened but…) When I arrived I saw the bus pulling into the parking lot at the same time. It was John from HMS-Transportation in St.Andrews who was behind the wheel. I was happy to see him. I did a pre-trip inspection on the bus before we went out on a training tour around the town. John was a great coach and whenever he saw me “fooling” around he told me. After about 30 minutes I brought the bus back to the parking lot and went into the office. “Toni” was the examiner today, and when I saw him I thanked God for hearing my prayers. Again i did a pre-trip inspection and everything went like a charm. We pulled out of the parking lot and cruised the town. After I the test was over and I had parked it again, I heard the examiner say that all there was left to do for him was issuing me a new Class 2E (Bus w. airbrakes) drivers license. Man…I could hardly contain myself. I DID IT!
Twenty Dollars later I held my new license in my hand. Merry Christmas Mr.Examiner!
Merry Christmas to myself, I said and went across the border into Calais for some grocery shopping. There was snow coming down and after stowing the bags in the car I went home – radio full blast!
Bea was as happy as I was when I got home. Over the last 9 days I haven’t been an easy fellow to have around – always thinking of that outstanding bus license. When I wanted Bea to see my new license I couldn’t find my wallet. Darn..it wasn’t in the car nor had I lost it on my way into the house. So where was it. FRIDAY THE 13th was spooking in my head. Carrying shopping bags out to the parking lot at the mall, stowing them in the car….what had happened out there??
Bea quickly located the phone number of the store and I phoned the office and gave my name and my problem. The second later the lady told me that they had it and it was turned in and would be in their safe for pickup. If it would have been possible I would have hugged that gal right there on my kitchen floor. Instead I hugged Bea and decided I will go out again tomorrow to pick it up.
Thank heavens for honest people! |
Congrats on passing the exam. And a really happy dance that you found your wallet.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandie and Jim. Today I have to go back and get that wallet. It's really cold (-19C) and I have to bundle up, but sure glad that wallet turned up.
DeleteA big CONGRATULATIONS being sent your way !!
ReplyDeleteThanks Denise.
DeleteAre you going to have trouble crossing the border with no id?
ReplyDeleteHello Flowergirl, my ID wasn't in the wallet. hehe...the passport doesn't fit into it. But yes, they would have let me in again as they know me.
DeleteCongrats on the bus license. No easy feat. Kelly & I both had to have our bus license when we drove school bus years ago. Had our air brake endorsements as well. Close call on the wallet but I can see how easily it could be misplaced or forgotten with all the excitement going on:))
ReplyDeleteThanks Al + Kelly! School bus drivers are really in demand everywhere. I will try to get my foot into a charter bus company.
