The Horse Is Out Of The Barn

U.S. Hits Another Record for New Coronavirus Cases

When traveling up from Houston,TX in February, only a few people had heard about Covid-19. Some might have heard about something going on in distant China, something like a virus making people sick, killing some. I stayed in BnBs on the way up. In Michigan I stopped and picked up a trailer, before going on.

A few weeks later, on March 16, Prime Minister Trudeau announced the imminent closure of the International border to the U.S. , a move nobody would have ever anticipated.

But the virus from China had entered Canada and the government wanted to stop the spread across the border.

At that time also U.S. officials knew that the world could change over the coming weeks, but little was done to curb the spread. Italy was already in a severe crisis. They were running out of hospital beds. All-of-a-sudden doctors had to make grave life and death decisions old people had to die, while the doctors concentrated on saving the lives of the younger ones.

At that time the American horse was already out of the barn .
CDC-officials had been fired and the organization been defunded.

While health experts tried to find the horse out on the pasture and get it back into the barn, right-wing media and the GOP sabotaged any effort to rein in the danger.

But Trump had issued a travel ban against certain European nations. He probably hoped that this would be enough to curb the danger.

It wasn't.

Covid-19 numbers were still rising fast. And with it the number of Covid-related death. The following lockdowns came much too late. Millions registered for unemployment benefits. Trump got more nervous by the day.

By now more 20,000 new cases became the daily average of newly registered cases.

Yesterday, more than 45,000 new cases in the United States were reported, the third consecutive day with a record total. A few days ago a staggering 3,800 people died in one day. That is more than the victims of 9-11. But while 9-11 could be blamed on terrorists, yesterday's caseload can only be blamed on the president of the United States and his enablers.

So where is the United States standing today?

Well, Trump's travel ban has been reciprocated by the European Union and while European countries have done their homeworks and reduced Covid cases they are now starting to open up their borders again, but Americans will be excluded from entering the EU. Soaring Covid cases in many states, caused by a too early reopening of the economy and a large crowd of irresponsible beach-goers and protesters is the reason why.

The U.S. is standing back as a pariah. Isolated, pitied and to some extent laughed at, it will be a long time until America will be great again.

And Canada's Prime Minister just made a another announcement: "We will be very, very careful with reopening the border again".

The Canadian horse is in the barn.

  1. A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
And no one can talk to a horse of course
That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mr.tRump.

Go right to the source and ask the horse
He'll give you the answer that you'll endorse.

  2. I do really enjoy reading your blog/thoughts on the current situation. wish i could remember or put in my memory bank so when confronted with the opposite view i could coherently convey the error of their ways. The people i have been in contact with.... i have no idea how they get their information, as they don't watch the news, read a paper/ book... only have their ideas, gotten from where? and beware you dare disagree... we both are misinformed it seems, but how can they possibly have any point of view.... what are they seeing i am missing...
I SAW in real time, when the troops on horses and using tear gas cleared the park (just like the cossacks in Russia revolution) for a photo op.... and a walk. what the heck? what a travesty.......

  3. Well if you’re going to bash us at least get your numbers straight

And if you’re that smart you read the article and hopefully you’ll understand it as for the numbers.
Now if Canada if so great why do you have a 13.7 unemployment rate(did the US do that to you) with the US as a 13.2 . Even so the horse is still in the barn he still shit
An Maybe you can enlighten me here , if Canada is that great why is the people of color in your country protesting And Yes there is destruction. Seeing as how George Foley died in the US By a bad cop we do have laws against that you know. And I doubt your buddy Trump is going to interfere.
With BLM protesting In Canada it doesn’t sound like all of you up there are that happy With your authority

This article came from CNBC Most Newsmedia suck but at least on this one you don’t have to read between the lines

  5. The unemployment rate are not the main topic here. Canada shut down its economy so we also got higher unemployment rates. As you well know the current unemployment rate in both of our countries has risen due to Covid-19. To date, Canada has registered 103,000 Corona infections related to a population of 37Mill, which is 2.8 cases pr.1000, while The US has by now roughly 2.5mill Covid cases at325mill population which translates to 7.7 cases pr. thousand. Canada's daily new infections are on a sharp downward trend, while the opposite is the case in the US. The Canadian horse is still in the barn. BTW. his name was George Floyd.
